While it doesn’t feel like spring too much, my calendar claims it’s May. I might not be ready to whip out my shorts and sandals and just yet, but I’ve packed away the chunky knits and big coats and jumped on this some of the biggest spring trends this year. If you’re updating your wardrobe, here are the six pieces you need to get your hands on.
When comfort and style have a baby, you get mom jeans. It’s definitely not a new style, but it’s huge this season. They are such a perfect addition to your wardrobe, because not only are they comfy and cute, they are also flattering. Plus, you can freely devour a Sunday brunch in them, and believe me, this is important when you pick your jeans. Make sure you get the right size, so you don’t end up looking like you’re expecting though!
I’ve only jumped on the loafer bandwagon recently, and can’t wait for warmer days to be able to wear mine. They are so easy to style because they go with most outfits. And to be honest, it’s quite nice to have a shoe I can wear instead of sneakers because as much as I love them, I do need a break sometimes. Opt for animal print loafers to jazz up any outfit!
This trend has been taking over the world for a couple of months now, and I cannot be happier. All kinds of hair clips, starting with pearl ones, moving on to bling-embellished ones, to pins with your name written on them. And then there are the headbands, which fulfil all our Blair Waldorf dreams, which instantly means it’s a yes from me. Any headbands you have spare, send them my way please!
Square neck (+puffy sleeves) top
Probably my favourite trend this season. I find tops and dresses with a square neckline really flattering, but I can’t pinpoint why. It just makes your chest look very nice (I sound like a creep but you get me!). And then you ad a bit of a puff sleeve, and voila, you look really cool, but also sexy.
A Cosy Cardigan
My inner grandma is having a party right now. Cardigans are a huuuuge love of mine, and the fact that they are actually trendy right now is making my heart sing. The cardigan of ss19 is cute, sexy and oh, so perfect for the indecisive spring weather. Style yours with a cami and a pair of (mom) jeans a la Jeanne Damas.
A Straw Bag
Cute bag alert! The straw bag comes in all shapes and sizes and has become the IT bag of the season. Maybe because it reminds us of endless beach days, I don’t know. But this season, the straw bag has taken its rightful place in our city wardrobes, as well as at the beach.
Bonus points if you haggle for yours in Morocco. More bonus points if you do it in French as I did.
And here’s your spring uniform sorted. What is your favourite spring trend this year?
