I loooove my fancy pants luxury skincare, I won’t lie. It makes me feel glamorous and all kinds of nice things, so yea, I may choose a moisturiser over a night out. It’s better for my skin anyways. But I also love me some good drugstore products. I mean, what’s not to like – they are cheap and cheerful, so your bank account isn’t suffering and some work really well. Here are the ones I am loving at the moment and definitely recommend.
I’ve been a fan of this for years. I rarely re-purchase products, because I love trying new things, but when I do, it’s because I’m in love. The Hydra Genius is well, genius. It’s lightweight and fresh and gives your skin instant hydration. Its watery texture gets absorbed by the ski super quick, and the Hyaluronic acid inside it locks in moisture, making your face look and feel fab. And it will cost you less than £10. Win!
This one is a huuuuuge favourite of mine, not only because it leaves my skin feeling extra soft, but also because it smells like something you can eat. White, blonde (I am only just finding out this is a thing) and brown sugar, mixed with cocoa butter, coconut oil and — all blend into a scrub that gives you baby smooth, nourished skin. The white sugar that melts on the skin and gently buffs away impurities and dead skin cells, the blonde sugar is a natural moisturiser, and brown sugar is rich in minerals so it helps help strengthen the skin’s barrier.
You need to rub it in (gently!) on your skin until the sugars melt, which is so nice, as you end up giving yourself a nice little massage. The scrub gets bonus points for being suitable to use on the lips too! By the time I’ve washed it off my face, I have baby smooth skin and very kissable lips. Double win!
The name is a mouthful, I know. But as someone who’s finding it hard to get into eye creams (I forget…), I have been using this one quite regularly. It’s super lightweight (I assume we have a trend here) and packed with Hyaluronic acid (another trend), so it’s suitable for most skin types. It’s super hydrating and fast absorbing, which is a must for the morning. I like to put it in the fridge the night before so that when I apply it in the morning it’s extra cooling and refreshing. It sure does wake me up!
This one is great for when you don’t have all the time in the world (or tend to run late in the mornings, as I do), but still want glowing skin. It says it’s a pre-shower treatment, but I don’t shower in the morning because I’d rather sleep (duh), so I use it before I wash my face. Ingredients include kakadu plum, vitamin c & rosemary extract, which illuminate the skin and make it soft and radiant. The whole process of applying, resting and taking off the mask takes about two minutes, so it’s perfect when you’re rushing in the morning! Plus, it smells divine, which is always a good thing, especially when the fragrance comes from essential oils. Oh, and it’s paraben free and vegan-friendly.
I love a good sheet mask, but you probably knew that already. These are probably my most-purchased drugstore products. These Garner babes are just fab – starting from the fact they are under £3 each, obviously easy to use, and feel SO good on the skin. My favourite ones are Pomegranate Hydration one, especially now that it’s freezing outside and my skin is crying for extra hydration, and the Sakura Hydrating one, which hydrates the skin and helps it have that gorgeous glow. Plus, it smells divine. Simon loves those masks too, so look into them, boys!
See, having your best skin ever doesn’t have to break the bank. Another thing I like about drugstore products is that because I haven’t spent a fortune on them, I don’t try and save them, which means I am generous with the quantities I use. Because as soon as it’s finished, I can hop back (lol) to Boots and get my fix! Woohoo!
Which are your favourite high-street skincare products?
